Science of Science: big data, A.I: and the future of science

13/04/2019 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT

Abstract

Big data and artificial intelligence have become a new mantra in the media and in the government’s agendas.

The talk will address two main topics: on the one hand, it will try to explain why the hype about AI is completely unmotivated (AI is still far to come) while, on the other, it will emphasize some aspects of the revolution which is taking place focusing on the impact that both Big  Data and Machine learning methods are already having and even more will have in the near future on the scientific discovery process.
