World Space Week

04/10/2025 @ 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM PDT
Free

“World Space Week is an international celebration of science and technology, and their contribution to the betterment of the human condition. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10.” — https://www.worldspaceweek.org/about/

International Observe the Moon Night is a time to come together with fellow Moon enthusiasts and curious people worldwide. Everyone on Earth is invited to learn about lunar science and exploration, take part in celestial observations, and honor cultural and personal connections to the Moon. We encourage everyone to interpret ‘observe’ broadly!” — https://moon.nasa.gov/observe-the-moon-night/about/overview/

The Science Circle has always been enthusiastic about events that bring the world together in the common interest of science and education about our world and ourselves. Following our participation in Observe the Moon Night in 2022, we decided to form the Science Circle Moon Base Project to explore the question of how we might one day live and work on the Moon. Every Monday for the last three years, we have continued to explore this question in a variety of ways and to share what we have discovered along the way with others.

Join us on Saturday, 4 October, to learn about how we plan to celebrate World Space Week and Observe the Moon Night this year and to learn some of what we have discovered about the issues associated with the exciting prospect of humans venturing to worlds beyond the Earth!
